Our unique partnership with Prime Healthcare enables TSHS to graduate nurses who are ready to practice in today’s healthcare environment. That’s why students who successfully complete the program and pass their licensure exam will be hired by one of Prime RVG’s three Rio Grande Valley hospitals. This ensures that you can begin working and earning immediately in a hospital setting where you already have experience and relationships.

Full Tuition Reimbursement Available for Qualified Students

At TSHS, we understand that a college degree is expensive. That’s why the TSHS program will forgive tuition for students who successfully complete the program, pass the NCLEX-RN on the first or second attempt within four months of graduation, and work for a Prime RGV hospital for 36 months after graduation. If you do not: (i) complete the program, (ii) pass the NCLEX-RN on the first or second attempt within four months of completing the program, or (iii) remain employed at a Prime RGV hospital for 36 months, you are only responsible for repaying a pro-rated amount of the $15,000 tuition, based on the number of credits enrolled in/completed or the number of months that you worked at a Prime RGV hospital.

About the TSHS Associate Degree Nursing Program

The TSHS ADN Program will prepare students with the basic competencies to become safe practitioners in the healthcare field, focusing on development of clinical judgment, collaboration with the care team, and strong communication skills. The program requires outstanding critical thinking skills and nursing judgment as well as a full-time commitment to the coursework. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). After successful completion of this exam on the first or second attempt, students will be eligible for employment at one of Prime Healthcare’s three hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley: Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco; Mission Regional Medical Center; and Harlingen Medical Center.

Upon completion of the Associate Degree Nursing program, graduates will be able to:

• Utilize the nursing process and the Clinical Judgment Measurement Module (CJMM) to maintain and promote the health of clients throughout the lifespan.

• Collaborate with the client and health care team in the management of care.

• Demonstrate an understanding of principles of teaching-learning by effectively applying these areas of knowledge and skill throughout nursing practice.

• Utilize written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills with the client and health team members.

• Demonstrate skills as a client advocate.

• Apply clinical judgment skills to content from nursing and support courses and to the roles of the registered nurses.

• Participate in activities, including ongoing reflection of performance, which promote growth of the individual graduate and the nursing profession.
